The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, as confirmed by royal officials.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a event ahead of the environmental conference, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The royal pair were participating in the museum gathering, marking an unusual joint appearance at a environmental conference preliminary meeting arranged together with the UK government.

Environmental Advocacy Dedication

The King has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has taken on the baton, with his own environmental prize initiative, which will be hosted in Rio preceding the COP summit.

Royal sources have portrayed Prince William's attendance at the forthcoming conference as assuming an significant responsibility in "global climate discussions".
